ウッドクラフトを通してインドネシアの経済状況に寄与しようという試み。

木を使った日用品をちゃんとデザインし、比較的低いスキルでもちゃんとした商品になることを試みている。

いわば都会と田舎をつなぐ商品といってもよい。

使われている素材が木だから、エコロジカルなイメージも描きやすい。

また、何となくあったかくて、使う側が感情移入しやすい。

技術的に高度なものばかりに囲まれている都会の住人が、心の底で求めているのは、人の手で作り出されたこのような商品かもしれない。

”Less Wood More Works”というコンセプトもよい。

magnoの概要Many of Indonesian villages now face a bad situation. People and natural resources as well as capitals flow from villages to cities with no return in balance. Through design & crafts production activity Magno propose to improve this situation. Magno apply New Crafts, a new system in setting up and manage crafts activity. New Crafts make easier to mastering skill as well as reach standard quality. The theme Less Wood More Works explains my thinking. I hope make a lot of works using small materials.
達成しようとした目標Village change from traditional to modern should transform peoples mentality. The fundamental system of New Crafts is to ensure that every steps of production process reach the standard. This means discipline is the basic requirements. Magno is also one of village transformation vehicle. Magno wants to send good products to people as well as develop and sustain local resources.

magnoのデザインについてI never design base on market demand. I try to absorb many things in daily life around me, local-global & start to think what best for people. I prefer simplicity in design, there are so much things behind. Wood is already an aesthetic object. Designing small products had been my enjoyable activities. Small wooden crafts products required less wood but provide more works.
magnoはどのような使用者・利用者を想定したかI never define precisely the user of Magno products. I think, Magno suitable for teen to adult people, man-woman. The more modern people are, the more demands to close to nature. Wood is one icon of nature, so there will always a place for wooden products in people life. The beauty of the products, its natural look, its philosophy and the story behind impressed many people.
magnoはその使用者・利用者にどのような価値を実現したかMagno products reduced unnecessary features & use wood oil for finishing. Simple form with well details, un-coated surface, natural material and the built-in fragility in our products is aimed to encourage user to be deeply connected with. Minimizing throw- away habits as well as lengthen the products life cycle.
社会・文化および地球環境の視点から解決すべき問題点Most of Indonesian people live in village. It has its own area, people, government, resources & economic activity. But, city oriented development policy make it always receives the less, the last & the worst. Indonesia will reach the wealth if we can develop villages. Magno is a model of local base activity for export market,it makes people earn locally as well as improve nature.
その問題点に対し、どのように対応したかMagno provides works for unemployed people by using local resources in a rural place. This will make rural people keep stay in their home community. Since agricultural sectors tend to grow more technology intensive, crafts will absorb the unemployed workers. Combination of well-developed agriculture & crafts activity will make village to become a sustainable living community.
