Lignum S2 Kamo-to Editionの概要The Lignum S 2 is part of our Knifemaking East to West concept. A compact wide chefs knife that is reminiscent of the form of a japanese Deba. The Lignum S2 is not as thick and heavy as a Deba but designed as a multipurpose knife with its own thin grinding. It can be used for cutting roof of leafy vegetables as well as for fileting fish or for cutting thick pieces of meat. De to the curved shape it is also suitable for weighing herbs. The blade is a compound of two stainless steel types, the blade comprises a core of extremely hard VG 10 steel and an outer mantle of 410 material.

Lignum S2 Kamo-to Editionの開発・企画についてサステナブル社会(持続可能な社会)の実現に向けて、応募対象が取り組んだこと
A solist in the art of knifemaking - Master cutler Shirou Kamo of Takefu creates his knives entirely by hand. He personally carries out each step, from freehand forging, truing and grinding to final assembly and polishing. Even in Japans traditional kinfemaking, a single craftsman is seldom an expert of all disciplines.

The knives bear both the Windmuehle and the name Kamoto as a sign of the components and knifemaking traditions that give them their extraordinary form, materials, sharpness and feel. The two symbols also attest to our many years of cooperation and ongoing knowledge sharing.
ユーザー・社会に伝えたいことIt was in the late 1990s that we took our first steps in the direction of Japan, seeking a new market for our Windmuehle knives. More than a decade later, those first impressions of Japanese knifemaking remain fresh: no one with a passion for knives can resist the fascination of fine Japanese cutting instruments. The result has been an collaboration that has brought many new ideas to Solingen.
